The contemporary extension to this classic charm is like a silhouette that enhances the quintessential elegance of the loved period front. A simple streamlined 3 dimensional extrusion extension becomes the contemporary back drop. A contemporary interpretation rather than imitation.
Whilst holding onto the loved detailed features of the front of the house; high ceiling & fireplace, room sizes are adjusted for modern living, ensuites & WIR with plenty of storage.
Maximising northern light through roof slots to tight spaces not only allows light to filter through spaces as well as creating a connection to the outdoors, sky and sculptural ceiling voids. Contemporary living requires storage for a young family and use of all possible spaces have been explored.
The hub of a family home is the kitchen. This contemporary extension allows the kitchen to be the pivotal point between extending onto the alfresco entertaining, practical housing of a walk-in-pantry and connecting with the dining & family living.
